Piano Lessons with Mrs. Rachel
It is a treat for me as a piano teacher, to show students the positive impacts of a musical education.  I specialize in providing enjoyment when learning to play the piano. I use tailored methods for each student recognizing individual needs, a solid curriculum and an end goal that will last a lifetime. I do my best to capture a love and appreciation of making music through piano lessons that will carry out for years to come.

At my studio, I focus on the backbones of piano including note reading, theory, technique, exercises, various composer studies, rhythmic training and music history while incorporating interactive teaching games, composition, duets, ear training and student request pieces. I strive to teach these areas of musicianship, artistry, technique and fundamentals effectively using a mutual student-teacher relationship of respect and understanding; therefore, I will spend time each lesson developing this interaction.

Lessons will contain the following elements for forward progression, piano enjoyment and expectations at home.
  • Technical exercises utilizing a metronome and improvisation
  • Review of previous lesson material(s)
  • Introduction of new material(s)
  • Activity and/or game for reinforcement in current area of study
  • Clear practice plan with detailed focus areas assigned for home practice (may include written or research homework)
  • A weekly parent follow-up email
I teach mostly from my multiple years of experience in piano instruction utilizing Faber and Faber, My Town, Bastien, and the Royal Conservatory of Music method books, though I have various other sources I utilize for reference and/or implement when needed.  My continuing education courses keep me sharp and attuned to available options and opportunities in piano.  Most recently, I received my Royal Conservatory of Music Piano Pedology Specialist Certification.

I would love to meet your family! I offer a "Meet and Greet Introduction Lesson" free of charge and with no obligation.  I feel it is important for all parties to have this opportunity prior to commitment.

Please contact me to schedule a free intro lesson, check available lesson schedules and/or to discuss details.

Piano Recitals
I highly encourage all students to participate in the two recitals per year. Any family and friends are welcome to attend the performances and join us afterwards for food and socializing.  I aim for Sunday afternoon performances in early December and late April. Recital fees are around $10.

Performance Opportunity
I try to do a Master Class each year to allow Intermediate and Advanced students the opportunity to preform and receive feedback from a Professional Piano Adjudicator.  Depending on the year, I try to arrange piano performances in local Assisted Living Facilities, at the Mall during holidays and/or as an Accompanist for school, church or with other instruments.
